Must do Coffee
12 Aug 2019
Coffee for me is a synonym to sustenance, it has sustained me through university, supported me through those long all-nighters, kept me energetic through classes and sometimes has been warm comfort during colder nights. Coffee is not without its medical benefits too. They say it can protect you from Alzheimer’s, Dementia and Depression; and lower your risk of Parkinson’s, Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 and certain types of Cancer – not that I ever really need justification! Here’s a taste of some of the best coffee on the Gold Coast.
1. Bam Bam Bakehouse, Mermaid Beach
Curating coffee beans from Costa Rica, Kenya and Rwanda, Bam Bam Bakehouse serves premium coffee that’s sophisticated and delicate on the taste buds, leaving you with a perfect finish. They have a fortnightly rotating feature blend from the best Australian roasters too, so they also support the locals.
2. Madam Tojo’s Coffee Palace, Chirn Park
Go in with an open mind and ready to be amazed. Madam Tojo’s Coffee Palace is a quaint lil’ café that has a rustic, artsy feel to it. Quirky but homely, with some delicious coffee and cakes that are well worth your time and money. The best part is that it’s still not very well known, so you might find the place all to yourself in the right atmosphere when you need to just sit back and relax.
3. Dark Espresso, Chirn Park
Another one for Chirn Park, this place has one of the best coffees I’ve ever tasted and if you need good food to go with it I’d highly commend their Southern Fried Chicken burger. If you’re looking for a great breakfast and you want to dine in, it’s best to book a table prior because Dark Espresso is incredibly popular and for good reason, their service is amazing.
4. Lakeview Espresso, Burleigh Waters
The coffee at Lakeview Espresso has to be one of the best in the city. One taste of their full-bodied blend and you’ll quickly discover why. That brew hits all the right notes, leaving a delicious creamy butterscotch aftertaste that will have you ordering a second cup before you know it. Make the trek to Burleigh Waters and you won’t be sorry you sampled this hand-crafted blend by the owner of the café. It’s one of the Gold Coast’s best kept secrets and for the price and service they offer, it gets 5 stars from me.
