Hidden Gold Coast - So Much More Than Beautiful Beaches

Beautiful golden sands and brilliant blue waters, that’s what comes to mind when you first think of the Gold Coast, but what if I told you there’s so much more that the Gold Coast has to offer other than its world-famous beaches? From waterfalls to rock pools, here’s a list of hidden Gold Coast gems that you absolutely have to see!

  • Natural Bridge Waterfall

The Gold Coast has quite a few mesmerising waterfalls, including the recently closed Killarney Glen famous for its heart-shaped rock pool, but the one that stays most enthralling for me is definitely the Natural Bridge Waterfall. You’ll find this beautiful natural bridge within the Gondwana Rainforest at Springbrook National Park. If you go for a night tour, you may even be able to spot the resident colony of the park's protected glow-worms.

  • Rock Pools Gold Coast (Currumbin Valley + Cedar Falls)

Honestly, I had difficulty picking one over the other, so I’ve included both the Currumbin Valley Rock Pools and the Cedar Falls Rock Pools. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxed spot to hang out with friends or family, Cedar Creek would be the obvious choice as it’s not as popular as Currumbin Valley spot, but the Rock Pools are absolutely gorgeous – that’s why they attract so many visitors.

  • Vineyards at Mt. Tamborine

These vineyards may not be on the scale of South Australia’s legendary Barossa Valley, but I love the quaintness they exude and the wine is just scrumptious, so if you haven’t been before, the vineyards at Mt. Tamborine are a must-see Gold Coast treasure. The wineries boast some wonderfully aromatic and delicious boutique wines, but why take my word for it when you can taste them for yourself? Mt Tamborine is a stunning and serene destination with glorious views to the Gold Coast, so make a day of it and visit all the mountain’s many exquisite attractions. As for the wineries, my favourites are Witches Falls and Hampton Estate.
